One order, one finish, a whole nursery that matches.
Short answer: a solid wood nursery furniture set usually means a convertible crib plus a matching double dresser, sometimes with the full-bed conversion kit included. At Romina, two-piece Nursery Sets run from $3,908 (Karisma) to $4,173 (Uptown), and three-piece Crib to College sets cost $4,412 (Karisma) and $4,677 (Uptown). Every piece is 100% solid wood, Greenguard Gold certified and Made in Europe. Sets are part of the Quick-Ship program, with an estimated fulfillment time of 2–4 weeks, and they come in a short list of best-selling finishes.
What is a nursery furniture set?
A nursery set is a group of matching pieces sold together. The two pieces nearly every nursery needs are a place to sleep and a place to store and change. So most sets pair a crib with a dresser that doubles as a changing station. Some sets add a third piece that you won't use for a few years, such as the kit that turns the crib into a full-size bed.
The advantage of a set is simple: the pieces are designed together, finished together and arrive together. You don't have to match a white from one brand with a white from another, and you make one decision instead of three.

Is a nursery set cheaper than buying the pieces separately?
A little, yes. We compared each set with the lowest listed price of the same crib and dresser bought one at a time:
| Set | Pieces bought separately (from) | Set price | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Karisma Nursery Set | $1,725 crib + $2,365 dresser = $4,090 | $3,908 | about $182 less |
| New York Essentials | $1,865 crib + $2,415 dresser = $4,280 | $4,092 | about $188 less |
| Dakota Nursery Set | $1,810 crib + $2,470 dresser = $4,280 | $4,093 | about $187 less |
| Cleopatra Nursery Set | $1,810 crib + $2,505 dresser = $4,315 | $4,124 | about $191 less |
| Uptown Nursery Set | $1,865 crib + $2,500 dresser = $4,365 | $4,173 | about $192 less |
| Karisma Crib to College | $1,725 + $2,365 + $530 kit = $4,620 | $4,412 | about $208 less |
| Uptown Crib to College | $1,865 + $2,500 + $530 kit = $4,895 | $4,677 | about $218 less |
Prices change, so check the product pages before you order. The bigger benefit isn't the discount, though. It's the speed: sets ship through Quick-Ship in an estimated 2–4 weeks, which matters if the baby is due soon.
Should I get the Crib to College set or the two-piece set?
The difference is the full-bed conversion kit ($530 on its own). It contains two full-length side rails and two sets of slats that turn the crib's headboard and footboard into a full-size bed. The box spring is included in the form of those slats, so there's no separate box spring to buy; you just add a standard full mattress (54 × 75 in).
Buy the Crib to College set if:
- You're sure you want the crib to become a big-kid bed around age 4.
- You want the kit in the same finish batch as the crib, bought now rather than years later.
- You prefer the Karisma or Uptown design anyway.
Buy the two-piece set if you're not sure you'll use the full-bed stage, or if you prefer New York, Dakota or Cleopatra. Every Romina convertible crib has its own matching kit, for example the Karisma Conversion Kit or the New York Full-Bed Conversion Kit, so you can add it later. Our guide to cribs that convert to a full-size bed walks through the stages and costs in detail.
What does each set grow into?
Every crib in these sets is a 5-stage convertible crib:
- Standard Crib: 0–24 months, with 3 mattress height settings.
- Toddler Bed: 24 months–4 years (add the toddler rail).
- Daybed: 24 months–4 years.
- Full Size Bed: 4 years to forever (with the conversion kit).
- Customised Full Size Bed: 4 years to forever.
The double dresser grows too. It works as a changing station with a tray on top, then as a regular dresser for a child, teen or adult room. Romina's dressers use English dovetail drawer boxes, organic tree-sap based glues and hydraulic soft-closing European drawer glides rated for 80,000 cycles. Read more in using a nursery dresser as a changing table.

What else do I need besides the set?
A set covers the two big pieces. Plan for these smaller items too, so the nursery is ready on day one:
- A crib mattress. Any mattress used in a Romina crib must be at least 27¼ × 51⅝ inches and no more than 6 inches thick. Romina sells the organic, dual-sided Kinder Mattress, and our guide to what size mattress fits a convertible crib covers the full-bed mattress you'll need later.
- A changing tray. The double dresser becomes a changing station once you add a tray that attaches to the dresser with hardware. The Adjustable Changing Tray is $385; check its dimensions against your dresser.
- Wall anchoring. Anchor the dresser to the wall from the first day, before the drawers are full and before your baby starts pulling up.
- A toddler rail, later. You won't need it until the toddler-bed stage, so you can add it when the time comes.
Not sure which finish will work in your room? Look at the finish in daylight photos on the product pages and compare it with your floor and wall color. Solid wood is natural, so grain and tone vary slightly from piece to piece.
Why are the set finishes limited?
Quick-Ship sets are offered only in the finishes parents choose most often for each collection. That's what lets them ship in weeks instead of being made to order. If you want a different finish, you can still buy any crib and dresser separately: the collections offer 13 finishes overall, shown on the finishes page.
How do I choose between the sets?
Start with the look, because all the sets share the same build: 100% solid wood, non-toxic water-based and organic oil finishes, Greenguard Gold certification and the same 5-stage path.
- Shaker and simple: Karisma. It's also the lowest-priced set and has a Crib to College option. See our Shaker-style crib guide.
- Mid-century modern: New York (natural wood with a colored accent) or Uptown (white or black with oak). Compare them in New York vs Uptown.
- Vintage, Art Nouveau curves: Dakota.
- Classic English, carved details: Cleopatra.
Then check the room. A double dresser is a wide piece, so measure the wall where it will stand, and leave space around the crib for the full-size bed later. A standard full mattress is 54 × 75 inches.
Is a solid wood nursery set worth the money?
It depends on how long you'll use it. A set like this costs more up front than flat-pack furniture, but it's built to stay in use well past the nursery: the crib becomes a full-size bed and the dresser stays a dresser. Spread over the years a child actually uses it, the cost per year drops quickly. Our luxury crib cost-per-year guide does the math.
If you'll only need a crib for two years and don't care about matching storage, a set is probably more than you need. If you want one finish across the room and furniture that moves with your child from nursery to teen room, a set is the simplest way to get it.
FAQ

A 5-stage convertible crib and the matching double dresser from the same collection, in one of the set's Quick-Ship finishes.
What's the difference between a Nursery Set and a Crib to College set?
The Crib to College set adds the full-bed conversion kit, which turns the crib into a full-size bed. Karisma and Uptown offer Crib to College sets.

No. Toddler rails are sold separately.
How fast do the sets ship?
Sets are part of the Quick-Ship program, with an estimated fulfillment time of 2–4 weeks.

What warranty comes with a set?
Both pieces are covered: Romina cribs and case goods, including dressers, carry a 3-year warranty. See the warranty page for details.
