IT IS A JOURNEY

Like parenting, quality is also a Journey. You only get to do it once, you discover and learn things along the way. One must experience quality and it's a personal and subjective experience. Quality can be different things to different people, comfort, or functionality or pride and peace of mind or how it looks, some of all these things. But quality definitively it is NOT something that causes disappointment and frustration and worries. If you care to poke beneath the surface and search for the "How" or the "Why" here's a 7 minutes read to discover our Journey.

NOT ALL WOOD IS CREATED EQUAL

Some woods make great campfires, some are good for construction, others for flooring but only some are great for furniture. Beechwood is the best hardwood for furniture manufacturing and, according to FSC it is the most sustainably harvested amongst common hardwoods (Birch, Oak and Maple). It takes 23-26 years for a Beech tree to reach maturity this is why is dense and durable and for every beech tree that is harvested, five saplings are planted in the same area.

HARD WOOD

Beech is the ideal furniture wood, of the finest hardwoods with a higher FAS score than Red Oak, Birch and Maple.

VERSATILE

CONSISTENT

CONSISTENT

Generally uniform pattern with low color variation with excellent finish absorption properties.

LONG-LASTING

LONG-LASTING

Very stable and slow aging, high density wood with extraordinary tolerance to temperature and humidity variations.

JUST DRY, STEAM AND REPEAT

Most wood species need a certain moisture level to optimize manufacturing, cutting and finishing properties and eight percent is the magic number. Too dry and it'll split, too wet and it warps before you finising the production cycle. Our hardwood goes through a non-chemical drying and calibration which is often refred to as the "kiln-drying process" but we use modern technologies and our kiln looks more like a Space station than an oven.

IT TAKES TIME

Softwoods grow fast but absorb a lot of water in the process therefore, when you get to that magic 8% moisture content, you end up with low wood mass and density which is why softwoods are lighter and easy to break. Hardwoods take time to grow, and longer to dry but are very durable. A 5 in 1 Convertible crib made of hardwood will certainly last through the toddler, pre-k years and beyond!

PASSION & SKILL

We start with precision cutting machinery and state of the art technology but highly trained furniture artisans are at the heart of the process. People shape up the wood and give is color and function so you can give it purpose. From basic calibration to layout cutting, mechanical transformation, assembly or finish application and then to hardware installation onward, there is effort but also enthusiasm employed at every step. Yes, it is a lot of work but quality doesn't just happen by accident, it is intentional. We think baby furniture is not just baby business, it's much more than this and our customers are tiny humans who rely on us to do things right this is why, Quality is of paramount importance.

DOING THINGS RIGHT, WHEN NOBODY IS WATCHING

Women make up the majority of our production and management teams. These are mothers and sisters and daughters who share our passion for furniture but more importantly are much better than men at quality control and attention to detail.

10-STEP FINISHING PROCESS

Unlike most babies, when the furniture is ready to be dressed, it stays still in our special finishing rooms. After the first coating of stain or paint dries off, the furniture goes back to prefinishing department where the surface is smoothen out again (sanded). Then the finishing process is repeated 3 times. When the finish is rich and consistent, the clear coating or sealant is applied, sanded down and applied again one more time. This layered application allows for the finish to be properly absorbed and there is no need to use chemical accelerants or Lead. 100% Greenguard GOLD Tested and Certified and 100% healthy for your family!
